DAY 1 We leave home and travel to our overnight hotel in Thurso.
DAY 2 Our day begins by making our way to Scrabster for the morning ferry across the Pentland Firth to Stromness, arriving 90 minutes later. We take a tour along the shoreline of Scapa Flow before checking in to our hotel in Kirkwall, our base for the next two nights.
DAY 3 Your local guide will meet you at the hotel for a memorable day out. As the day unfolds, the island’s Neolithic ancestry is evident as many ancient monuments, stone circles, settlements and tombs are visited and is a testament to it’s UNESCO World Heritage status. The tour includes a scenic circular tour of the island visiting most of the main sites including 5000 year old Skara Brae, Churchill Barriers, Ring of Brodgar, Stennes Standing Stone and Italian Chapel. Along the way, listen to the tales of Viking intruders, wartime exploits and immerse yourself in Orkney’s rich maritime heritage.
DAY 4 We catch the morning ferry back to the mainland, heading south to Inverness and then home.
