8 Nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast, Return ferry crossing from Southampton to Cowes. A guided tour of Chester and cruise on Pontcysyllte Aquaduct.
DAY 1 We head south to our overnight hotel in the North of England.
DAY 2 Today we make our way to the Isle of Wight, crossing from Southampton to Cowes and arriving in plenty of time to settle in before dinner.
DAY 3 Today’s tour begins in the Victorian Spa resort of Ventnor before continuing to Freshwater Bay. At the western most point of the island are The Needles and nearby is Alum Bay, home of the famous coloured sand. Before returning to Sandown, we visit Godshill, a popular thatched village of “Chocolate Box” prettiness.
DAY 4 Our excursion today takes us to Cowes, a renowned yachting centre and home of World Yachting. It has played host to some of the greatest international sailing events and has a sailing history second to none. We then visit Newport, the island’s capital in the afternoon.
DAY 5 A free day at leisure to enjoy Sandown.
DAY 6 We catch the ferry back to the mainland and travel to the historic city of Chester, our base for the next three nights.
DAY 7 A free day in Chester, the attractions are numerous, and include the famous 13th Century “Rows”, half timbered galleried shops, the largest Roman amphitheatre in Britain and a glorious Cathedral.
DAY 8 This morning we start off with a tour of Chester accompanied by a local guide and in the afternoon we visit Llangollen where we have a cruise on the “Stream in the Sky”, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct – breathtaking!
DAY 9 We travel home.
