DAY 2 We have some free time in Inverness before taking the ten mile journey along the shoreline of Loch Ness. We then visit Urquhart Castle Visitor Centre and Grounds and return to Dornoch via Beauly and Muir of Ord.
DAY 3 Take your seat on “One of the most beautiful rail journeys in Europe” – Michael Palin. In Kyle your coach collects you to take you over the bridge and on to the Isle of Skye – an island full of mystery and history with magnificent scenery. Included is a light lunch on Skye. Returning over the Skye Bridge, stopping at Eilean Donan Castle for photos, before crossing from west coast to east coast, covering 109 miles of Highland splendour, via Loch Carron and Achanasheen.
DAY 4 We venture north by train, tracing the North Sea coast passing fairy-tale Dunrobin Castle and the beautiful beaches around Brora. Experience how remote Scotland can be passing famous salmon rivers and distilleries with miles of moorland before disembarking in Thurso, where your coach will be waiting. We then visit the Castle of Mey before taking the short hop to John O’ Groats, the most northerly inhabited point on mainland Britain. Returning south passing what once used to be the mighty fishing port of Wick with coastal scenery all the way back to Dornoch.
