For this tour we base ourselves in Gretna, taking in the highlights of the Scottish Borders and Cumbria. We visit the Lake District in Cumbria and take a trip on the Carlisle Settle Railway and visit Dumfries, the Solway Coast and Drumlanrig Castle in Scotland.

DAY 1 We leave home and travel to Gretna, stopping in Moffat en-route. Tea/Coffee and shortbread will be waiting for us in Gretna.
DAY 2 We make our way into the Yorkshire Dales to Settle where we will have free time to explore the Market and in the afternoon, we board the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway. We travel through 72 miles of unspoilt countryside enjoying the breathtaking scenery including the world-famous Ribblehead Viaduct. We arrive in Carlisle where our coach will be waiting to take us back to the hotel.
DAY 3 This morning, we drive to the Lake District taking a scenic route along Ullswater, the second largest lake in the National Park. We arrive at Pooley Bridge pier and enjoy a 1 hour Ullswater steamer cruise to the south side of the lake to Glenridding. We rejoin our coach and make our way to nearby Derwent Water Lake, stopping at the pretty town of Keswick where we have free time for lunch before returning to Carlisle where we will have some free time.
DAY 4 Today we head for Dumfries where we will have some free time before visiting the Devil’s Porridge Museum then returning to Gretna.
DAY 5 We return home, stopping on the way at Drumlanrig
